Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (ABVHV) is a public state university established in December 2011 by the Madhya Pradesh government, named after the Hindi poet and former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It holds the distinction of being the first university in Madhya Pradesh — and one of very few in India — to conduct teaching and research across all subjects specifically in Hindi, spanning science, literature, art, commerce and more. Recognised by the UGC, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programs across 18 faculties and departments, in regular, correspondence, training and certification modes. Notably, it made national news in 2016-17 for launching the country’s first Hindi-medium engineering course, though reports the following year described very low enrolment for that specific program. The university’s stated mission centres on promoting Hindi as a medium of knowledge, culture and communication, alongside solid infrastructure including modern classrooms, libraries, research centres, hostel facilities and campus Wi-Fi.
Fee range
Varies significantly by course. Specific figures found: approximately ₹11,300 per year for BCA, and a total of ₹27,300 for the 2-year, full-time Yoga program (both per Collegedunia). These are only two data points among the university’s many UG, PG, diploma and certificate offerings — please check the official website (abvhv.edu.in) for exact, current, course-wise fees.
