The museum is located on the southern side of Upper Lake in Shymala Hills.
Rather than being a conventional indoor museum, much of the experience takes place outdoors. Life-size traditional dwellings representing tribal, coastal and Himalayan communities have been recreated using traditional materials and techniques.
